An essential safety item for every boat is a RFD NZ Approved Flare Pack. 

The RFD Flares are SOLAS approved, meet ISO 9001 standards and are used by mariners all around the world.

Flares are contained in a hi-visibility durable plastic container.

RFD Flare Type Specifications:

Comet Red Parachute Rocket (SOLAS approved)

1. Designed to alert potential rescue craft
2. Simple operation - rocket projects to 300m before ejecting parachute-suspended red flare
3. Burn time: 40 seconds at 30,000 candela.

Comet Pinpoint Red Hand Flare (SOLAS approved)

1. For short range signaling
2. Simple pull cord firing mechanism
3. Burning time: 60 seconds at minimum 15,000 candela.

Comet Orange Hand Smoke (SOLAS approved)

1. For powerboats, yachts, dinghies, windsurfers, and personal watercraft
2. Produces thick orange smoke for daylight distress signaling
3. Simple pull cord firing mechanism
4. Burn time: 60 seconds.
